I suspect that lots of people think that the day the builders actually start work arrives very suddenly. For us, after a long period of waiting, it really did arrive suddenly: work was due to start this Tuesday, but the builders finished their previous job early and so they’ve already started. On Wednesday, I had a call asking if it was okay if they started bringing some materials over (ummm, yes!). By the end of Wednesday, we’d agreed that they’d start work on Friday. On Thursday, they were bringing more things over (including a mini-digger and dumper truck – much to the excitement of the youngest members of the household!) and asked if they could start knocking down the first wall. Wow! And we’re off.
Two of the builders, Rob and Spencer, were back today (Saturday) and will be back again on bank holiday Monday. Impressive start. So now we have lost a section of wall, most of the patio and the majority of the foundations are in place. Not only that but both children had a go driving the digger. There’s no requirement for TV at the moment: they’re too busy staring out the windows to watch what is going on!
