Aga toast and roast no more

Just as well we made the most of the Aga with a delicious roast at the weekend as I think we’d struggle to make another one now that the kitchen looks like this:

I’ll also be missing the Aga toast, it was really odd waiting for a toaster to pop up this morning.

The last couple of days have been extreme. We are now living in a rented two-bed nearby and moving with no notice while looking after 2 pre-school children and trying to keep up-to-date with work has been challenging. We managed to clear out the utility room and kitchen before they were destroyed. We then moved our essentials including three beds, two armchairs, one sofa, two chests of drawers, one dining room table and four chairs. It would have been even more of a struggle without Steve’s assistance transporting mattresses and bed frames in his truck (over and above the call of duty for a builder perhaps. I think he was very keen for us to get a move on!); and Tim making multiple trips in his little van with furniture that would have been impossible to fit in our car. Two nights getting to bed at gone 1am were not helped by the blinds not keeping much light out this morning – the children were awake with the sun which was about 5am this morning. Eurgh! And now I remember why I said I’d never move again without a removal company. I feel like I was tricked into this one as we thought we had ten days to move bit by bit!

The build has been dutifully cracking on to validate the speed of our move out: the first floor joists are in place, the utility room and outside toilet have been destroyed, the kitchen is a shell and there are lots of holes for RSJs all over the place.
