Seven weeks in: tiles and decisions

The build has been going for seven and a half weeks and that means that we’re over a third of the way through (not including the kitchen, flooring, decorating etc). The roof is ready for the tiles and we’ve had plenty more to think about.

We’ve had another chat with the kitchen people as we’ve changed our mind and decided to take the big step of trading in our old Aga for a shiny new one. After a couple of visits to the Aga shop, and many long conversations, we’ve chosen an electric dual control Aga to replace our 80 year old solid fuel converted to mains gas version. This has meant a couple of changes to the kitchen layout but we’re pretty much ready to order it now after a couple of months of research and debate.

Not wanting to have too much of a break from decision making, we also turned our attention to sanitary ware over the last few days. After doing some research, we took far less time to decide on the showers and the stuff for the downstairs toilet which we have now ordered. We haven’t found the bath that we want yet and didn’t have time to look for the toilets and sinks for the bathroom and en-suite: for some reason, we found it a little challenging trying to look at basins, pedestals, taps, toilets etc with a four year old jumping in and out of every bath and a two year old thoroughly testing all the shower doors. It was a relief that we left without breaking anything!
