Online shopping; many, many deliveries and decorating

Father and son painting team

I may have had a serious case of online shoppingitis. The only downside of this vicious disease (other than the effect on our bank balance) is the amount of deliveries that follow. We now have a lot of boxes waiting to be unpacked and installed next week. The kitchen fitters start on Monday – yeah!

We’ve now started decorating the children’s bedrooms with help from Ian and Julie. The team effort today has resulted in the first bit of wallpaper and a completed mist coat in Spencer’s room. Flooring in the ensuite should be going down tomorrow.

The tiling and decorating has made the house look a lot more like somewhere that we might actually be able to move into in the near future. We are hoping to move back in in three weeks time, fingers crossed! We had a couple of people come round to quote for the carpets and the first of them was possibly the most miserable person I’ve ever met. He couldn’t raise a smile, didn’t introduce himself and was generally monosyllabic and surly. It’s not a good way to pitch for business – they’ll have to be a LOT cheaper for me to even consider using them! After a rocky start to the morning from Spencer, the children managed to find a corner of the hallway out of the way of the electricians, plumbers, decorators and carpet measurers to do some colouring in.
