We’re so close to being finished but are we actually finished? Will we ever be, that is the question…
Outside is finished: the driveway and patio are now completed. Hooray! The external lights are all up and working (despite needing a second visit to change the wiring around). The new walls and planters have been built and rendered. The porch has been built. The side gate is up which makes spending time in the garden with small children and/or dogs much easier.
The building regs inspector came back and said that we now needed one more fire door and an additional handrail – is there no end to this?!
Mark the decorator came back to fill in holes and fix some of the mess created by the last few bits, and some of the holes that had been missed first time round. We still have a long list of decorating to do and not even one room totally completed.
Researching the replacement lantern needed for our lamppost led me to the realisation that the vast majority of these are manufactured in Shropshire. Conveniently within about 15 minutes of Neil’s parent’s house where we were spending Easter. We managed to get the lantern whilst we were there and then realised that it took up three quarters of the boot so transporting everything back home at the end of the Easter break was more of a challenge. Neil’s golf clubs were given the boot and had a longer stay chez Monro than they would have done. To the great relief of Neil, they have now been returned and we can all breath easy.
